Why the best drone shows tell a story, not just a pattern

Anyone can put lights in the sky. The shows people remember are the ones that mean something. This is how TYS designs for meaning.

Most people first see a drone light show online: hundreds of lights moving in perfect formation, a heart, a star, a logo. It is beautiful. But beauty on its own fades quickly. A week later, guests remember that there were drones. They do not remember why.

At TYS, short for Tell Your Story, we start from the other end. Before we think about shapes, we ask what the event is for. A wedding is two families becoming one. A launch is a name the market should remember. A 70th birthday is a life worth honouring. The show exists to serve that purpose.

Purpose before patterns

Every TYS show begins with a conversation about the people, the meaning and the feeling. Who is this for? What should guests understand by the end? What should they feel when they look up? The answers decide the sequence, the music and every shape in the sky.

A beginning, a middle and an end

A good show has a structure, just like a good story. It might open with where a couple met, move through the moment they knew, and end with their names joined together. A brand show might open with the problem, reveal the product and close on the tagline. The order is what turns pictures into a story.

Symbols that belong to you

Generic hearts and stars are easy. Meaning comes from details only you could choose: a family crest, a hometown landmark, a line from your vows, a phrase in Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa, the outline of the car your father drove. Those details are what make guests turn to each other and say, that is so them.

Measured by the goal, not the applause

We judge a show by whether it did its job. Did the couple's parents feel honoured? Did the launch get filmed and shared with the right message? Did the celebrant feel seen? Aesthetics matter, but they are the means, not the goal.

How to start your story

You do not need a script. Bring the names, the dates, the moments and the feeling you want. We will shape them into a design and share the concept with you before anything is flown.
